Ready for a new booking year
Do you want to spend several days with your group? On kampas.be you start the search for the ideal location to make the most wonderful memories together. You will find a complete overview of possible buildings and camping sites in Flanders where you can stay with your group. Reservations can be made via the operator or for certain locations - only in self-catering - directly online.
Every last Saturday of April, Kampas activates an extra booking year at 10 am. Thus, from Saturday 27 April 2024, you can search for availability in the 2027 rental calendars. For online booking too, operators can opt to extend rentals by one year. For groups looking to book their camp or holiday periods at that time, good preparation is important.
Be prepared
When a new booking year is activated, the search options on Kampas* are extended to include that calendar year. When you search via the search bar, Kampas will show you all available accommodation in the period you specify**. The results with the label 'book online' can be booked immediately via kampas.be. The locations without that label you book through the operator.
Especially for a camp in the summer holidays, demand is often high. If you want to search and book via Kampas, make sure you are well prepared when activating a new booking year to ensure you can book your preferred location:
Create a personal account on Kampas
Link your personal account to your group (an existing member of your group must confirm your membership). Do this even before the start of the new booking year so that we can help you in time if any problems arise.
Explore the offer and make a list of your desired venues***. That way, you will have an alternative in case your first choice has already been taken by another group.
*Operators choose which rental period to use. If bookings are made online via Kampas, the operator can choose not to activate every available calendar year for rentals (for example: Kampas does allow the calendar to be activated until 2026, but the operator chooses to make the calendar available only until 2024). For operators who manage bookings themselves, the visibility of the calendar is extended one year, but the deadline for bookings is autonomously determined by the operator.
**Searching for a venue on the day of opening can only be done from 10am. If you try to search for a venue before 10am, in other words, you will fail.
**Don't put venues with a smaller capacity than the group you want to go on camp with on your list. If there are too many of you for the accommodation, this could be a reason to deny your group access or charge a surcharge for additional people.
Booking with Kampas
Results labelled 'book online' can be booked immediately via kampas.be. There are four important rules to bear in mind:
Both search and online booking in a new booking year can only be done from the moment Kampas activates that year. Online booking in that new year will be possible from that moment on the home page of the accommodation of your choice (renew the date). The full display of all search results may take about five minutes. Refresh your page regularly.
At the start of a new year, Kampas only allows online booking requests for groups. Private bookings will be rejected at that time, but can be done the day after. So to book online at start-up, your personal account must have linked to your group's environment. To book, your group membership must be active (other members will receive a message - sometimes in the spam folder - to accept your membership). So the above preparations are essential for smooth online booking.
In July and August, each group can only submit one request* for the same period. If you want to make a second booking for your group, you must wait until the first request has been approved or rejected by the operator. This is also the case when you use different personal accounts for the same group. This prevents groups from unnecessarily blocking different periods for others. So organising a rush on Kampas to book your dream location makes little sense.
You must be of legal age to sign a rental agreement. On Kampas, you must be 16 to create an account, 18 to make an online booking.

How can we be sure we will be able to book that dream location online?
You can't, unfortunately. For the big camp sites, demand exceeds supply in July. Each group (including through different personal accounts) will be able to submit one application for the same period in July and August. Only when this request has been confirmed will it be possible to create a new summer booking.
How do we know which venues to rent?
Searching by period is the easiest way to quickly see which accommodation you can already book. This can be done via the search bar on kampas.be. You can also find out availability via the calendar. Can't view a particular calendar year yet? Then it is not yet available for rent.
Beware, before the activation of a new year you cannot find out via the site whether an operator is willing to rent that far into the future. However, you can find out via the contact details on the site, contact the person responsible for bookings.
Can we only book via the website?
All offers labelled 'book online' can indeed only be booked via the website. Kampas will not process reservations by phone (or even in our offices). For all other offers, you need to contact the operator to book, for which you can find the contact details on kampas.be.
Will kampas.be be able to handle the influx of searchers and bookers at the opening of a new booking year?
Kampas opened a new booking year for the first time on 10 December 2022. That went smoothly. We can never completely rule out problems, but we do everything we can to prevent them. Are we immediately sure of our period when making an online request?
No. The operator must approve or reject an application within a maximum of five days. Kampas asks operators not to leave incoming applications for too long. As soon as the rental agreement arrives in your mailbox, you do have that certainty.
Are you obliged to book fixed periods of seven or 10 days?
Some operators do indeed opt for this, especially in summer. If you book directly online through Kampas, you will only be able to select for these fixed periods when determining your arrival and departure. If you want to inquire about this earlier, contact the person in charge of bookings.
Can we take an option on a period?
That too is determined by the operator. If you book directly online through Kampas, you cannot. You make a request for a reservation. When the operator accepts it, you will immediately receive an agreement and an (advance) invoice.
